YDT HGV Training was proud to support this year’s Devon Truck Show 2025 with a unique and engaging attraction that helped raise vital funds for a local charity.
Thanks to the generosity of the show organisers, YDT was given an extensive off-highway area where visitors were able to take part in a supervised truck driving experience. The initiative allowed those without the required HGV licence entitlement to safely experience what it’s like to drive a truck. An opportunity that proved extremely popular across the weekend.
In the lead-up to the event, discussions were held with Devon Truck Show organiser Mike Quartley to decide which charity the experience would support. Somerset MIND was chosen as the beneficiary, a highly respected local charity dedicated to supporting mental health across the region.
Participants were invited to make a charitable donation in return for taking part in the driving experience. The response exceeded expectations, with attendees showing incredible enthusiasm and generosity throughout the weekend.
By the close of the show, an outstanding £2,400 had been raised and donated to Somerset MIND.

Looking ahead, Devon Truck Show 2026 is already scheduled to take place on 22nd – 25th May. YDT is pleased to confirm that they have been invited back by the organisers and will once again be delivering a similar truck driving experience – with hopes of raising even more funds for Somerset MIND next year.
